Parenting Support Sessions (PSS)
PSS are special one-on-one, psychoeducation-based support sessions which provide parents with the ability to support their child's mental and emptional needs. In this 8-session series, parents will connect with Ms Julie and will receive information and engage in valuable discussion on topics, such as:
- Child development information
- Building effective routines, rhythms, and expectaions
- Communicating and co-regulating during meltdowns
- Impletemnting effective limits and consequences to manage difficult behaviors.
PSS can be a very helpful way to engage in your child's mental health and be proactive in parenting skills. These sessions can be helpful in providing information for parents who are waiting for their child to be seen by a clinitian, or simply for parents who wish to be present, engaged, who wish to enhance their parenting skills, and to improve the overall quality of the relationship between them and their child
Child-Parent Relationship Training (CPRT) and Filial Therapy
CPRT pecifically aims to empower parents and improve the relationship between child and parent. This is done by engaging parents and caregivers directly as the agents of therapeutic change. Over the course of this 10 - 12 week course, the parent has the opportunity to learn a variety of methods for engaging the child while still maintaining limits during special play times. These sessions can take place one-on-one with Julie or can be in a group setting.
